The Wedding Present. ‘Go Out And Get ‘Em Boy’ released1985.
When I was little I’d listen to Peel. If he played something I liked I’d try to write down the name of the song and the group. Peel was aware of this, and was very good at giving as much information as possible about the tracks he played, often accompanied by his own little observations about the songs.
So when Peel played ‘go out and get ‘em boy’, and then gave an address of where to send a £1.50 postal order for the single, the young Mr. Gedge must have been swamped with cash from eager indie kids wanting to buy his 1st single. Possibly.
Anyway that’s how the internet worked in the 1980s, and it was right good.
